Our L-1 US Visa Application Story
L visas are given to persons who are intracompany transferees - those who are being assigned by their companies to work in the US for a limited time. My husband's company is sending him to the US so he is the principal applicant, the recepient of the L-1 Visa. A L-1 Visa holder's dependents are granted L-2 Visas.
We thought our baby and I would not be permitted to enter the US Embassy this morning. The secretary made an appointment thru Visa Point - the online appointment service. She told my husband that we just needed to pay the visa application fee and fill-out the necessary forms. Our appointment was at 7:15am. We were at the embassy at around 6:30am but when they didn't see my name and my baby's name on the appointment list, they asked us to wait. Apparently, the secretary did not specify that my husband will be applying with his family. Grrr!
While we were waiting outside, I prayed that they would allow us to push through with our application. God answered my prayer! The embassy officials allowed us to enter and go through the visa application! Why? Because of our baby! Haha! That was what the lady said. If it weren't for our baby, only my husband will be interviewed! I swear, our baby is such a blessing! She's like a charm.
When we applied for our US tourist visas, they asked us to go inside the airconditioned room for finger scanning because we had a baby. This time, not only did they allow us to process our L visas as a family but we also didn't have to wait in line to be interviewed by the consul. When the consul saw that we had a baby, he told the staff that he'll interview us first.
Nevermind that she became so fussy during the long wait prior to finger-scanning. Visa application was hassle-free all because of our baby! Praise God for babies!
