Infant to Toddler Car Seat
We're just waiting for a few things to finalize our upcoming trip to the US. Our tentative date of departure as of this time is April 1. It's mid-March already and we're starting to get ready for our 6-month assignment.
It's a law in the States that children 0 to 8 years old should be in a carseat while travelling. We don't have that law here in the Philippines and kids are not used to being restrained by carseats. Babies here are often being held by their caregivers when in the car. My 8 month old daughter was used to sitting in a carseat but we got lazy in bringing the carseat in and out of the car. Now she's used to sitting on our laps while going around. Sometimes she even stands up. Now that we're about to leave for the States, I'm really worried that she might reject the carseat when we're in the US.
I've been surfing the internet for a good carseat that she can use until she grows up. Something that's not too expensive but of good quality. I found one at Babies R Us. It's an Evenflo Triumph Advance LX Convertible Car Seat. Convertible meaning it's rear and forward facing. It can be used from infancy until the kid is about 50lbs heavy. What's really important is that it has good customer ratings and it's not that pricey - $140.00. That's about P5,900.
Maybe I can check carseats that are being sold locally. Maybe we can just bring one from here. It will be more expensive, for sure. But we're worried that we'll need a carseat once we arrive in Chicago. They might not allow us to ride a cab or a car from the airport to the hotel.
I'll have check and re-check our options.
