Antibiotic Christmas
Did I mention that we were in the hospital on Christmas Day?
We had to bring our daughter to the emergency room for high fever and wheezing.
She was diagnosed with bronchitis last December 18th but the pedia gave us the go signal to travel to Davao the next day. He prescribed Ilosone (an antibiotic), Ventolin and Disudrin which I gave her for 7 days. She got better on the 5th day of medication but the coughing went back on the 6th day which was December 23rd. By December 24th she was coughing anew and finally had fever by the evening of the 25th. I listened to the sound of her breathing and it sounded like she already had pneumonia. By the way, she was diagnosed with pneumonia also last November.
So around 10:00pm on December 25th, we brought her to Davao Doctors Hospital and she was given another set of prescriptions, including another antibiotic. Plus, she they had to give her the nebulizer in the ER to open her airway. I had to be strong in the ER because she was crying like a pig being slaughtered. Terrible.
Anyway, we left the hospital at 1:00am just to return the next day so that a pediatric pulmonologist can give us a second opinion.
In the end, our little princess had to take Co-amoxiclav (antibiotic) and Meptin (broncho dilator). When we arrived in Manila, her pedia added another medicine to stop the wheezing plus nose drops for the colds that never seem to end. That's 4 medicines on top of the vitamins.
It was worth buying all the medicine because she's better now. I just hope she doesn't get sick again soon because we have another trip scheduled this month.
