Missing Pinoy Food
As of yesterday, we have been staying in the United States for one month already. It's incredible that we were able to survive for one month without pan de sal, sardines, tuyo, daing na bangus. Actually, we missed Filipino food the past month that we decided to finally look for Filipino/Oriental stores around our area here in Chicagoland. We dont have any Asian store here in Deerfield because this is a pre-dominantly white community. I'm guessing that 90% are Caucasian and 10% non-white (including Filipino).
The other day M decided that we go to neighboring town to check if there are Filipino goods for sale. We went to Vernon Hills and found only 1 store that sells Filipino goods. It was a small store and the guy selling seemed spaced out...maybe because of the lack of people coming into the store? Hehe :) Just to make the travel worth it, we bought dried fish and boneless bangus. We got a couple of Pinoy newspapers for free too and we were able to see ads of other Pinoy stores in North Chicago. So instead of going back to Deerfield, we sought out a couple of stores. It was still sunny at 7pm, anyway.
Whoops...gotta end this now. My baby girl just woke up.
This blog to be continued.
