Laundered Phone

So it's been one week since I lost my phone.

Guess what? I got it back the very next day. But along with the good news came the bad news. Here's the story...

I couldn't sleep the night I lost my phone. What I did was, aside from blogging that I was super pissed, I e-mailed the corporate housing guest services officer so that she can take care of it as soon as possible. I received an e-mail the next morning confirming that they found my cellphone. As I suspected, housekeeping accidentally brought my cellphone along with the sheets and pillowcase. Yey(!), right? Wrong. The cellphone was laundered along with the sheets! The e-mail said that the phone was wet and they were not sure that it was still working. Before I even got to reply to her e-mail, the Housekeeping Manager delivered it to me. Well, I have to give them credit for quick delivery.

Anyway, according to a website on cellphone repair, I shouldn't attempt to turn on a wet cellphone. So I didn't. I took out the battery and, thank goodness, my Smart SIM card that was still working. I didn't take the phone to the repair center anymore because I'd have to pay $35 whether or not the phone gets fixed. Oh, and if it gets fixed I'll have to pay $25 - $75 more, depending on the damage. I'll just wait until we get back to Manila to have it repaired.

Right now I don't have a Philippine cellphone. Good thing there's Chikka.com!
