Balikbayan Box

Our 6-month stint here in the US is almost over.

Right now we are searching for forwarding companies of balikbayan boxes. Since airlines have become strict and have started charging for additional luggage, we thought it's best to send some of our things via balikbayan box.

We have three prospects right now:

1. Orient Star Express which we found in the Filipino newspapers here. They've been in the balikbayan box business for over 20 years. They have a very helpful website that shows the shipment date, the arrival date and the date of distribution. However, it's so hard to get in touch with them through phone. No one is answering.

2. Shipment Express which our uncle has tried before. They don't have a website but they do have a big print ad on the newspaper. Plus, they take photos of your loved ones in the Philippines as they receive the box. When I called them up, they were able to give me definite dates of shipment and arrival.

3. LBC. Well, LBC is the Hari ng Padala. So I guess I should have confidence in the company. Thing is, the lady I talked to could not give me an exact shipment and arrival date.

I'm leaning towards Shipment Express. At least we know someone who's satisfied with their services.

I hate packing.
