Missing Reading
Barnes and Noble is only across the street from where we live. For months I've been going in and out of the store, checking out bestsellers and novels on sale. I was tempted to purchase more than a few times but ended up with nothing everytime I exit the bookstore. Why? Because each time I think of buying a book, I ask myself: Do I have time to read this? I always doubted.
It's difficult to find time to do stuff for myself these days. I've a toddler who demands much of my attention during most of her waking hours. Aside from being a mother, of course, I am also a wife. Like all stay-at-home-moms in the US, I have other roles to play. Meals have to be cooked, clothes have to be washed, some need to be ironed, the house needs to be cleaned. Thank God we don't have a garden we have to maintain. In short, my days are usually packed and the little reading that I can do is usually done in the toilet. Ha ha! I'm not kidding!
Yesterday, like most days, I went to B&N again. I think I stayed for more than an hour in the store. I was in the non-fiction novels for a long time. I thought that it would be nice to read Sex In The City as I have always been curious about the book. However, they had no stock. They did have stock of Candace Bushnell's 4 Blondes. But then again I hesitated. If I buy the book, when will I have time to read it? Again, I doubted and ended up buying a children's book that I plan to read to my daughter.
Oh! I tried reading 4 Blondes in the bookstore but it was impossible. My baby kept on saying "Mama! Mama!" She was bored and wanted to move around.
Today I realized that I really wanted to read again. I'm determined to finish a bestseller. It will be 4 Blondes. I will do it. Even if it means I have to do it only in the toilet.
