Yesterday was a stressful day for me. Let's just say that I let myself feel frustrated because things in my life are not going as (I had) planned. No need to elaborate.
The feeling lasted until about an hour ago and it's so funny how one realizes, like a slap in the face, that there are so many things to be thankful for.
I belong to a moms-and-marrieds egroup and I read something this afternoon that woke me up from my gloom. A working mom was sharing about her 10-month old son's attachment to his yaya. Since the mom and her husband were out of the house for almost 12 hours daily, it was the yaya who put him to bed almost all the time. Now when the yaya had to leave a few days ago, the mom (and dad) had difficulty in letting their son sleep. Actually, the mom also cried when the yaya left. She didn't say it but I'm guessing that she had grown attached to the yaya, too, in a dependent sort of way.
After getting married, I left the corporate world and stayed home. Even though I am now thinking of ways on how to contribute to the household income, I am still not pressured by my husband to go back to work. My daughter has a yaya but is with me almost 24/7. She is attached to myself and her dad.
I am grateful because I have the luxury of spending quality time with my daughter and being able to rest while I am pregnant with our second child. Realizing this is enough to lighten my mood.
